Student Stories

Caroline Dickhausen

headshot

Hometown: Twin Cities, MN

Major: Genetics

Year: Junior

Hobbies: pickleball, hiking, attending ISU sporting events

Ask me about: study tips, the biological sciences club, and places to hike close to campus

I’m a peer mentor because I love to help students transition into college and get the most they can out of their time at Iowa State.

Emma Miller

Hometown: Iowa City, Iowa

Major: Genetics

Year: Senior

Hobbies: Running, eating cookie dough, playing D&D, and cheering for the Cyclones

Favorite experience in the Genetics Program: My favorite experience so far was going to the pumpkin carving event at Reiman Gardens. I had a ton of fun with other genetics majors outside of classes, especially listening to the new Red album with all of my new friends in the car on the way.

Favorite part of being a peer mentor: love being a peer mentor because I get to help new students find their place at ISU like my peer mentor did for me, while making tons of new friends in my major.
